Rolex robber sought

Detectives from the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department have issued warrants against a 19-year-old Savannah man for the Aug. 1 theft of a $38,000 watch from a downtown jewelry store.

Warrants charging Rashamel Okise Gardner with robbery by sudden snatching have been filed and police are asking the public for help locating him. Gardner is a black male, about 5-foot-10 and 160 pounds.

Detectives have identified him as one of two men who walked into Levy Jewelers about 2 p.m., asked to try on a gold Rolex watch, then ran out of the door and south on Bull Street.

Anyone with information on his location or other aspects of the case is asked to call Crimestoppers at (912) 234-2020 or text CRIMES (274637). Tipsters remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward.
