After a time in the hospital over the weekend, a 20-year-old Savannah man has died after accidentally shooting himself while handling a revolver Friday night.

Zachary Hindri of the 200 block of Croatan Street was transported to Memorial University Medical Center after the 10:36 p.m. shooting. He died from his injury over the weekend.

"He had the gun at a friend’s house on the 8700 block of Whitfield Avenue, spinning the chamber and pulling the trigger, when it fired and struck him," a police spokesman says.

Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police criminal investigations detectives continue to investigate.
