Gnate the Gnat competes in 'Mascot Mania'

Posted By on Mon, Jul 28, 2014 at 9:33 AM

Gnate the Gnat, the Savannah Sand Gnats’ mascot, is again competing in MiLB.com’s Mascot Mania. Fans can vote online to choose the best mascot in all of Minor League Baseball.

Gnate will compete against all of the mascots in the South Atlantic League in the first round. If he advances, he will then take on the winner of each league for a chance to be crowned the Mascot Mania champion.

Fans can vote an unlimited amount of times by visiting the official Mascot Mania website at http://atmilb.com/1sz2w07

Fans can also vote on Twitter up to 25 times per day by tweeting or retweeting anything that includes @Gnatsbaseball, @MiLB , #Vote4Gnate and #MascotMania. Each tweet should include all four elements.

Sand Gnats fans are encouraged to be creative in their campaign efforts, as Gnate needs all the votes that he can get.

According to the latest polling results on MiLB.com,  Gnate the Gnat is embroiled in a tight race with the Hickory Crawdads' mascot, Conrad the Crawdad, and the Greenville Drive’s mascot, Reedy Rip’It.

Last season, Gnate was voted the best mascot in the South Atlantic League and then finished third in the final round, besting over 150 mascots.

The fatal flaw is one big whopper of a ridiculous idea: All of the money spent in Savannah by people who attend a Sand Gnats game, on the day of that game, is directly attributable to the stadium.
