The Monday afternoon shooting of a man in an apartment containing a quantity of drugs and items commonly used in their distribution has Violent Crimes detectives looking for witnesses.

Responding Southside Precinct patrol officers of the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department found Marcus Decarl Echols, 21, with a gunshot wound in his apartment on the 10000 block of Abercorn Street about 5:20 p.m. His injuries were described as serious.

Detectives are trying to identify anyone leaving the scene in that time frame.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Crimestoppers at (912) 234-2020 or text CRIMES (274637) using the keyword CSTOP2020. Tipsters remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward.
