Man found dead in islands pool

Police are investigating the death of a 22-year-old Savannah man found floating in a residential swimming pool on Talahi Island this afternoon.

At 12:57 p.m. SCMPD responded to the residence on the 200 block of East Point Drive. The homeowner called police after discovering his house sitter unresponsive in the pool.

The victim was last seen at the residence on Friday. The homeowner gave the victim permission to use the pool in his absence.

EMS, the coroner’s office, Metro Forensics, Patrol and Violent Crimes responded to the scene. Detectives are investigating the events leading to the victim’s death.

Metro continues to investigate.
