Detectives are investigating a Friday night shooting on East 39th Street and Waters Avenue.

At about 8:50 p.m. Metro officers found Jeffery Sentell Grant, 35, at the scene with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. Grant was transported by ambulance to Memorial University Medical Center.

"Investigators believe this may be a targeted shooting. Circumstances surrounding this incident remain under investigation," say police.

The suspect in this case is described as a "clean shaven black male, with a light complexion, standing roughly 5-6 to 5-8, with a medium build. During the incident he wore a black hooded sweatshirt," police say.

  • Editor's Note: The real crime is our poverty rate

The City of Savannah still remains at a stubborn 26-28 percent poverty rate. Poverty disproportionately impacts African Americans, also the community most disproportionately impacted by crime. This is no coincidence and is hardly rocket science, but for some reason many people have problems connecting the dots.
