Gun discharges during Pennsylvania Avenue fight

Violent Crimes detectives made an arrest Wednesday night after a man and woman were injured during a physical altercation on the 500 block of Pennsylvania Avenue.

"At about 4:48 p.m. on Wednesday, Metro responded to Memorial University Medical Center, where Daral Love, 21, and Ariel Maxwell, 20, arrived in a privately owned vehicle seeking care of non-life-threatening injuries sustained during a fight. A bullet grazed Love. Maxwell received lacerations," police say.

"Investigators believe Love and Maxwell were involved in a fight with multiple subjects including, Juakeen Banks, 24, who reportedly approached the scene displaying a gun. Banks reportedly struck Love several times with the weapon, causing it to discharge and injure Love."

West Chatham Precinct officers located and arrested Banks at his residence on the 3800 block Elmdale Avenue during a warrant service. Evidence connected to the shooting was obtained during the search. Banks is charged with aggravated assault and aggravated battery.
