Detectives are investigating an armed robbery and carjacking that occurred at 8:30 p.m., Feb. 17, in the 100 block of West 36th Street.

"Central Precinct officers responded to the area for an armed robbery that had just occurred. Two suspects reportedly approached the victim and one of the suspects struck him in the face. The two suspects fled the scene in the victim’s car," police say.

"Police located the car in the area of 37th Street and Hopkins and pursued the suspects until the vehicle wrecked at 52nd Street and Exchange. Following the accident, which resulted in minor damage to a police vehicle, the 15-year-old male driver was apprehended. He was treated at Memorial University Medical Center, questioned by police, and transported to the Regional Youth Detention Center," police say.

"The juvenile was charged with armed robbery and several traffic violations. The passenger in the stolen automobile, described as a short, black male in his late teens to early thirties wearing a black hoodie and dark pants, remains at large."
