Precinct officers made an arrest Sunday evening after an attempted armed robbery in Forsyth Park.
"At approximately 8:50 p.m., Metro responded to the fountain area of Forsyth Park for an attempted armed robbery that had just occurred. A victim was lying in a hammock when two suspects approached and asked for the time," police say.
"One of the suspects then brandished a gun and demanded personal belongings. Another victim, who was nearby, heard the commotion and walked over to the area. This startled the suspects and they fled westbound through the park."
"Officers in the area were able to apprehend one of the two suspects. A 14-year-old was detained and subsequently charged with obstruction by fleeing and criminal attempted armed robbery with a gun," police say.
Investigators are working to determine if any of the recent armed robberies in Forsyth Park are linked to this case.
The suspect that remains at large is described as a black male, possibly in his mid-teens. He was of average build and was approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall. He wore a dark gray sweatshirt or hoodie during the incident.
