Detectives are investigating a shooting near East 51st and Waters Avenue, that left Bernie Edwards, 30, with non-life threatening injuries just before 5:30 a.m. on April 26.

"Metro responded to the 1100 block of East 51st Street, where Edwards called for help after being shot. Edwards was transported to Memorial University Medical Center for care," police say.

"Reportedly, two male suspects unknown to Edwards approached him asking for cigarettes, before robbing and shooting him. The suspects fled in an unknown direction," police say.

Both suspects are described as black males in their early to mid-20s, wearing dark clothing and hats.
