Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department's Major Accident Investigations Team responded to a hit-and-run accident involving two-vehicles on Waters Avenue and East 39th Street that injured Katheryn Blankenhorn, 25, on April 30.

At about 4:47 p.m. Blankenhorn was traveling north on Waters Avenue on a motor scooter. At the same time a white Chevrolet pick-up truck driven by an unidentified white male was traveling south on Waters Avenue.

"Investigators believe the driver of the pick-up truck failed to maintain his lane before striking Blankenhorn’s scooter. The unidentified pick-up truck driver fled westbound on East 39th Street," police said.

Blankenhorn was transported to Memorial University Medical Center with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

Within the hour, Metro officers located the pick-up truck on East 39th and East Broad streets. It was no longer occupied by the suspect.

This is an ongoing MAIT investigation. Anyone with knowledge of the suspect’s identity or location should call CrimeStoppers at (912) 234-2020 or text CRIMES (274637) using the keyword CSTOP2020. Tipsters remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward.

A tip line also is open directly to investigators at (912) 525-3124.
