Detectives are investigating a shooting that occurred at approximately 10 a.m., June 10, outside the Savannah Mall.

"Southside Precinct officers responded to the mall and found a 63-year-old female suffering from a single gunshot wound. She was transported to Memorial University Medical Center with serious injuries," police say.

Investigators say this appears to be a robbery. "Two of the suspects physically attacked the victim at her car, she fought back, and they shot her," police say.

The four black male suspects fled the scene in a newer model, black Lexus IS250 sedan with dark tinted windows.

This investigation is ongoing. Anyone with any information on this case should contact the SCMPD tip line. The tip line is open directly to investigators by dialing (912) 525-3124.

As much as we want to think Charleston is the tipping point, many of us thought the same thing after Newtown, only to be bitterly disappointed. Next time there probably won’t be as obvious a vector for our grief and anger as a flag.

Maybe, just maybe, some of the outrage is gone because there is a sense that matters are at least beginning to get somewhat under control here?
