Police are seaching for the owners of 69 dogs found living in filth in a small house on the 300 block of East 33rd Street.

Give it up for the new year

Several armed robberies augured in the new year. On January 4, about 9:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to 11975 Apache Avenue to the Dollar General. Employees told police two armed suspects entered the store and came into the breakroom.

Teens ruling the roost

Five people were arrested after a teen party on New Years Eve went awry. Just after 9:30 p.m., an officer observed three young boys running from the side of the AAction Air Conditioning building and jump into a vehicle. The officer conducted a traffic stop and discovered teen boys inside along with one adult driver.

A  Savannah woman who  used the Internet to scam runners in the Rock ‘n’ Roll  Marathon out of $8,300 has been charged with felony theft by taking.

Two men were shot after two separate dice games over the course of three days. Jeffrey Sams, 18, of an Egmont Road address was participating in a dice game on the 300 block of Lewis Drive in Patterson Terrace on the southside. The Most Interesting Burglar in the World

On four separate occasions in the past two weeks, the Bar–Bar in City Market was burglarized. Each time the burglar would take bottles of Gold Patron Tequila and leave no signs of forced entry.

Where else would they have been?

There were some tense moments during the Savannah Rock ‘n' Roll Marathon when a 4-year-old boy and his grandfather were reported missing in the Forsyth Park area. The 68-year-old man and his two-foot tall grandson were last seen at Liberty and Whitaker by family members, who reported that they were supposed to meet the pair soon. They both were found safe at the finish line.

Huge parking challenges will be the order of the weekend as Savannah prepares for its inaugural hosting of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon, with over 23,000 runners.

Long arm of the law

The Chatham Narcotics Team is “requesting” that local businesses stop selling “herbal incense,” aka synthetic marijuana, stating that in the past 18 months there have been “at least six reported cases of persons smoking Herbal Incense and having serious physiological issues.”
