Bloodkin

Minor legends on the Athens, Ga. scene, this Stones-y blues-rock act sound like The Black Crowes with an inspiration transfusion. Frontman Daniel Hutchens has written a handful of songs cut by Widespread Panic. Thurs., 10 pm, French Quarter Café (Statesboro).


Bottles & Cans

Trashy, swinging Delta blues-based garage-rock. Wed., 9 pm, Bay Street Blues + Thurs., 10 pm, Savannah Blues + Fri., 9 pm, Mansion on Forsyth Park.


The Chuck Courtenay Band

Noteworthy local honky-tonk, country and Southern rock band. Their show marks the grand opening of a new bar/restaurant and live music venue in this fast-growing community, and finds them welcoming back their ace drummer Jesse Jordan, who’d been sidelined due to knee surgery. Wed., 7 pm, Driftaway Café (w/Bucky Bryant) + Thurs., 6 pm (solo), Stingray’s (Tybee) + Fri., 8:30 pm, Glazer’s (Richmond Hill).


Jeremy Davis & Equinox Jazz

Hard-bop combo led by a transplanted Louisiana-bred saxman. Sat., 9 pm, Mansion on Forsyth Park.


Deep Blue 3

One of the most versatile area electric blues bands. Fri., 10 pm, Mercury Lounge.


Drowning Pool

Tx.-based modern hard rockers, who often donate a small portion of their ticket sales to help U.S. veterans of current conflicts with their health care costs. With openers alt.metal act The Exies. Wed., 7 pm, Monkey Business (Hilton Head).


Fire & Rayne

Touring acoustic guitar cover duo. Fri., 10 pm, Molly MacPherson’s + Sat., 10 pm, Molly MacPherson’s (Richmond Hill).


Frazier & Tavalin

A female jazz vocalist with piano accompaniment— playing standards. Fri., 7 pm, Vic’s on The River.


High Velocity

Kickass Southern and classic rock and modern C & W covers. Wed. + Fri. - Sat., 9 pm, Gilley’s (Hinesville).


HomeBrew

New local cover band (Southern rock, country, Top 40) featuring former members of Southpaw, Capital A, Liquid Ginger and Deep Cuts. Fri., 9 pm, Jukebox Bar & Grill (Richmond Hill).


Listen 2 Three

Promising young local commercial rock/pop trio (think John Mayer). Thurs., 9 pm, Fiddler’s Crab House (River St.).


The Magic Rocks

Diverse rock, country and soul covers from a power trio featuring members of Superhorse and The 8-Tracks. Sat., 8:30 pm, Glazer’s (Richmond Hill).


Jude Michaels

Originals and popular covers sung and played on acoustic guitar and cello to looped electronic backing. Thurs., 8 pm, Café Loco (Tybee).


The Permanent Tourists

Killer, dance-oriented R & B party band with a great rhythm section and impressive vocals. Sat., 9:30 pm, Tantra Lounge.


G.E. Perry & Strange Brew

Local blues-rock act fronted by a talented guitarist known for his slide work. Sat., 9 pm, Isaac’s on Drayton.


Ralph Sampson’s Paper Jam

Local act featuring members of popular area jam-band Turtle Folk, plus (on Friday’s gig) special opening act, up-and-coming regional organic pop/world-beat act Sol Driven Train. Wed., 9 pm, Fiddler’s (River St.) + Fri., 10 pm, Loco’s (downtown).


The Train Wrecks

Local high-energy roots-rock combo influenced by Springsteen and Steve Earle. Thurs., 10 pm, Murphy’s Law + Fri., 8 pm, The Warehouse - all CD Release Parties.


The Work

Top-notch, upbeat, ‘70s-style funk and jam band from Greenville, S.C. that’s capable of throwing down serious, poly-rhythmic grooves featuring plenty of wah guitar, envelope bass, swirling organ and smooth trumpet. Fri., 9 pm, Riders Lounge (Hilton Head) + Sat., 10 pm, Loco’s (downtown).
