‘Nature Observed & Preserved’– The Nature Conservancy joins with artists Jeannine Cook, Lind Hollingsworth and Steve Willis to present this exhibit Saturday, May 6, 4-9 p.m. at The Art School, 74 W. Montgomery Crossroads, #B-2. This is an opportunity for guests to meet members and staff of The Nature Conservancy and to find out more about this significant environmental organization. A portion of the art sales will be donated by the artists to The Nature Conservancy. Call 921-1151.

SCAD Gallery Hop -- Shuttles run between the galleries and refreshments will be served. Participants may join the gallery hop at any of the featured stops. Bridge, work from a Chinese painting class, can be seen at Alexander Annex Gallery at 668 Indian St., Scenic Overlooks, Al Fuller’s thesis exhibition, can be seen at Alexander Hall Gallery at 668 Indian St.  Multiple Choice, the fibers faculty show, can be seen at Pinnacle gallery, 320 E. Liberty St. Nocturne, by MFA painting candidate Ben Ward, can be seen at Poetter Hall, 342 Bull St. The Vera Wang Exhibition can be seen at Red Gallery, 201 E. Broughton St. Alexander Ink, a printmaking exhibition, can be seen at Alexander Hall Gallery at 668 Indian St. The work of SCAD alumnus Jen Swearington can be seen at Shop SCAD, 340 Bull St. May 5 from 5-7 p.m.  Free and open to the public.

First Friday at Starland– ‘Monster’: The Latin verb monstrare translates as: to Artists in the exhibition embellish the monster metaphor through painting, photography, video, audio, installation, and performance work by Natalie Bray, Penny Brice, Henry Dean, Alex Estes, Robert Farmer, Jon Field, Alex Gingrow, Jim Gladman, Clifford Hedin, Diana Heise, Crystal Kanney, Anna Keck, Marcus Kenney, Jenny Kuhla, Brienna McLaughlin, Dan Saelinger, and Kevin Strickland. ‘Savannah and the Islands’– Group show at Horne & Thistle Gallery, 424 E Oglethorpe Ave., features gallery artists and several invited artists, with artwork that mirrors that theme. May 1-31 with a reception May 6, 5-8 p.m. Reception and show are free and open to the public.
