‘Peace of Mind’ -- Union Mission’s Growing Hope Artisans Cooperative shows new works on Peace by Tony Coombs thru October. Opening reception Friday, Oct. 6, 6-8 p.m. at Starfish Café on 719 East Broad St.  

 

‘Pen Pal’ -- A collaborative art project between eight Savannah artists and eight Atlanta artists. The 16 finished artworks on display at desot O row Gallery Oct. 5-11. Opening reception during the Starland First Friday Gallery Hop, Fri., Oct. 6, 6-10 p.m.

 

‘Lifescapes 2006’ -- Recent resin paintings by Scott Griffin, Sept. 28- Oct. 19. Reception Thurs., Oct. 5, 6-9 p.m. Gallery Espresso, 234 Bull Street.

 

First Friday at Chroma -- Painter Jan Clayton Pagratis demonstrates painting, discusses technique, and shows new work. Friday, Oct. 6, 3-7 p.m., Free. Chroma Gallery, 31 Barnard St.

 

Chroma Gallery Paint Out -- Benefits Telfair outreach. Sat., Oct. 7, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., Chroma Gallery artists painting plein air in Forsyth Park. 4-6 p.m.: wet sale at Chroma Gallery to benefit Telfair ‘I Have Marks to Make’ exhibition.

 

Art Show Benefits Child Abuse Center -- Sentient Bean, 13 E. Park Ave., sponsors this benefit for Coastal Children’s Advocacy Center.  Reception & silent auction Tues., Oct. 10, 6-8 p.m., artworks hang until Nov. 11. A video on sexual abuse, “The Elephant in the Room,” will be shown Oct. 10.

 

 ‘Aftermath’ -- Edna Dapo’s SCAD MFA solo thesis exhibition of paintings, drawings and prints. Thru Oct. 12 at the Alexander Annex Gallery, 668 Indian Street. Free and open to the public and will be featured on the Oct. 6 Gallery Hop, 5-7 p.m.

 

Hebermehl at Hang Fire -- Work by this local artist is on display Sept. 22- Oct. 13 at Hang Fire, 37 Whitaker St.

 

‘All Over the Lot’ -- Hospice Savannah showcases new work by local photographer Margaret Brennan, Sept. 1–Oct. 31 at the Hospice Savannah Art Gallery, at Hospice House, 1352 Eisenhower Drive. 

 

Whitney Gallery -- New artists Carrie Christian, Melody Postma, Chris Revelle, Gerome Temple and Ben Ward are being showcased Sept.–Oct. 415 Whitaker Street.

 

‘Linda Cohn was here’ -- Chicago native Linda Cohn will exhibit her works at Gallery S. P. A. C. E. (Savannah’s Place for Art, Culture and Education) Sept. 5-Oct. 27.

Admission is free.  Gallery S.P.A.C.E. is at 9 West Henry St. 

 

JEA Artist of the Month --  The Art Show at the Jewish Educational Alliance, 5111 Abercorn St., beginning Oct. 1 features works of Judy Mooney, Sandy Branam & Lilli Fayaz.

 

‘Plant Portraits: The California Legacy of A.R. Valentien’ -- At SCAD Museum of Art, 227 MLK Jr. Blvd., through Oct. 6.
