‘30,000 More or Less’ -- Solo MFA thesis exhibition by Alex Gingrow is a visual representation of the horrors and casualties of the ongoing violence in Iraq.  ‘Creeks, Coves and Sounds’ -- New exhibition of the paintins of M.L. Kolbe and Tom Sadler at Mansion on Forsyth Park.  Through January 6. VIP reception with the artists Friday, Nov. 10 6-9 p.m.

 Sally Clark -- Hospice Savannah will showcase new work by Sally Clark through Dec. 31 at the Hospice Savannah Art Gallery, Hospice House, 1352 Eisenhower Drive. Opening reception Thursday, Nov. 9 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Gallery.

Friday Double Feature -- Desot O row Gallery, 2427 Desoto Ave. in Starland Design District, opens two shows on Friday. ‘Fowl Thoughts’ is John Metcalf’s first solo show in Savannah, with drawings and prints that primarily depict birds. Reception Friday Nov. 10, 6-9 p.m. Show runs Nov 9-15. ‘Tag Truckin’’ is a live collaboration of graffiti artists painting a mural on the body of a truck. Friday Nov 10 6-9 p.m. 

Frank Stewart -- Stewart is the principle photographer for the Savannah Music Festival and Lincoln Center in New York. Recent color photos as well as a number of images from his black and white series “Hotel Windows.” Show runs thru Nov. 30 at Horne & Thistle Gallery, 424 E Oglethorpe Ave. Reception Nov. 11, 5-8 p.m. Gallery hours are Fridays and Saturdays 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

 ‘Holidays, Hope & Warmth’ -- Union Mission’s Growing Hope Artisans’ Cooperative presents cooperative member holiday card designs, hand-crocheted Afghans and text discussing the issue of providing “warmth” to people impacted by homelessness during the winter and holiday months. On exhibit through November at the Starfish Cafe, 719 E. Broad St. 

 Comic Industry Panel -- SCAD honors comic art and sequential art storytelling as top industry professionals gather for a panel discussion Saturday, Nov. 11, 6-8 p.m., Trustees Theater, 216 E. Broughton St. Free and open to the public. Popular ink artist Scott Hanna, who has worked on all of Marvel Comics’ top characters including Spider-man, the X-Men, Wolverine, Thor, the Avengers, Daredevil and the Hulk; and Marvel Comics painter Paolo Rivera will serve as panelists. SCAD sequential art alumni panelists include current pencil artist for Archie Comics’ “Sonic the Hedgehog” Tracy Yardley (B.F.A., 2001), Dreamworks SKG storyboard artist Phil Craven (M.F.A., 2002) and Nick Dragotta (B.F.A., 1997), whose work can be seen in Marvel and DC Comics. Prior to the panel discussion, a reception will be held at Pei Ling Chan Gallery and Garden for the Arts, 324 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Thursday, Nov. 9, 6-8 p.m.

 ‘Ghana: A Photo Documentary’ -- The City of Savannah’s Department of Cultural Affairs exhibits photographer Carrie Brown works at Gallery S. P. A. C. E. (Savannah’s Place for Art, Culture and Education) Nov. 10 through Dec. 15. Brown is currently a documentary photographer for Cross-Cultural Solutions in Ghana, West Africa. The exhibition will include works from her journey through towns along the western coast of Ghana, as well as works from her Ghanaian students. Admission is free.  Gallery S.P.A.C.E. is at 9 West Henry Street in Savannah. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Mon.-Fri.  Reception Fri., Nov. 10, from 6-8 p.m.

 Whitney Gallery Artist of the Month -- During November new works by June Stratton and Adela Holmes are being showcased at the Whitney Gallery, 415 Whitaker St.

 New Artists at Savannah Art Works -- New mixed media by Simone Wilson and block prints by Katherine Linn are featured at Savannah Art Works, 240 Bull St. Artist reception: Sat, Nov. 11, 6-9 p.m.

 ‘The Architecture of Nature’ -- New collage works by Laura W. Adams will be on display at Off the Wall Gallery in 45 Bistro at the Marshall House, 123 East Broughton St. through November.

‘A Closer Look: Four Churches and a Synagogue’; ‘Turnings in Native Wood’ -- Photography by Tim Coy and woodturning by Dicky Stone through Dec. 30 at Gallery 440, 440 Bull St. All works for sale. A portion of proceeds benefits Chatham Savannah Citizen Advocacy, Inc.

JEA Artist of the Month --  The Art Show at the Jewish Educational Alliance, 5111 Abercorn St., beginning Nov. 1 features works of Cynthia Fraula-Hahn,  an artist, arts activist and art historian based in Winchester, Va., and Savannah. Artist reception Thursday, Nov. 9, 6-8 pm.
