SSU's College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences Dean's Engagement Initiative for Performance/Showcase Initiatives Grants sponsors a mini film festival, April 23, 2014 featuring three movies - "Pariah," "Beloved," and "Daughters of the Dust" - that showcase Black women's empowerment and political power, and the festival was originally designed to coincide with Women's History Month. Special guest speaker, Congresswoman Cynthia A. McKinney, who will lecture on “Race and Gender in Politics: Black Women in Congress”, April 24, 2014
