Blotter

• A man who hired another man to work on his car says the car has never been returned to him. The victim told police he took the vehicle to the repairman in February. He says he offered to pay to get the car back, but when he went to the man’s house to retrieve the vehicle, the man told him “he doesn’t even have the car.”

• Police were called to an East Duffy Street residence on a report of a couple fighting. The man said he and his wife began arguing because “she would not give him a ride to work.” The woman would not come out of the house to talk to police, even after they identified themselves. The man told the officers “his wife has a mental problem.”

• A West Victory drive woman says her former boyfriend tried to take their 1-year-old daughter. The woman told police she had a peace bond against the man. When she went outside to get the mail, he approached the house and tried to take the baby. When the woman started to call police, the man sat the baby down. The woman, who is 8 months pregnant, said the man pushed her as he tried to take the baby.

• A man arrived at a grocery on Montgomery Street, where a woman saw him and jumped out of her car, brandishing a butcher or kitchen knife. “She yelled to ask him why he was calling her names. Then her mother came out brandishing a tire iron.” The man told police there were many witnesses to the incident, but no one came forward to talk to police. The man says the woman is an acquaintance of his wife’s, but he does not know why she was upset with him.
