June 21: Today's events

Here's what's going on today (Thursday, June 21): As part of the Telfair Museums' annual Juneteenth celebration, author Beverly Jenkins - the nation's premier writer of African-American historical romance fiction who specializes in 19th century African American life - speaks at 7 p.m. at Second African Baptist Church. The acoustic band England in 1819 plays the Sentient Bean, with Southern League and Ocean Versus Daughter; the Royal Noise and the Dirk Quinn Band share a bill at Live Wire Music Hall; Empire Vices, Truth Inside, Slave Grave and Centuries inaugurate the Dollhouse music series at 980 Industry Drive (show starts at 6:30 p.m.).
