TWENTY years in, Kirk Franklin’s unique blend of pop, gospel, R&B and hip-hop has changed the face of religious music. Taking passed-down traditional song and combining it with the textures and rhythms of popular club music, he’s found a way to engage generations of soul-seekers by cutting through dogma and getting to the heart of his faith.
With nine Grammys, an American Music Award, 39 Stellar Awards, 16 Dove Awards, eight NAACP Image Awards, two BET Music Awards, a Soul Train Award, and many, many, others, Franklin is a leader of modern-day spiritual song.
With a highly relatable message and transparency about his testimony, Franklin offers a big-picture look at the world, calling audiences to turn to Christianity and soul-searching when the world feels like it’s crumbling and the newspaper headlines are far too brutal. His latest CD, Losing My Religion, with that lightning-rod title, talks about not allowing rules to be the premise that drives a person to God. Franklin most recently took home three Billboard Music Awards for Top Gospel Artist and Top Gospel Album for Losing My Religion and earned Top Gospel Song
Outside of his Gospel, Christian, and R&B/Hip-Hop chart-toppers, Franklin is also the host and executive producer of BET’s gospel talent show Sunday Best, heading into its fourth season.
On his 20 Years In One Night tour, Franklin will deliver fan favorites, hits, and new music from Losing My Religion to the Savannah Civic Center audience.
