One man is in custody after calling 911 on himself by accident, apparently hallucinating under the influence of meth.
Officers with the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department responded to a residence following a report of a burglary in progress. 35-year-old Robert Boyles called 911 saying "he was home alone when he heard what he believed to be voices inside." Police responded to the residence on Beaufort Road.
While inside, officers located items they believed to be related with methamphetamine. Agents assigned to the Chatham-Savannah Counter Narcotics Team (CNT) responded to the scene and confirmed the officers' suspicions.
• Police are investigating the shooting death of a 19-year-old Savannah man at a the Yamacraw Village public housing complex.
Ardearrin Christopher L. Jefferson died at Memorial University Medical Center after the 11:40 p.m. shooting near 725 Yamacraw Village. Residents reported hearing multiple gunshots before responding officers found Jefferson with gunshot wounds.
• Metro violent crimes detectives are investigating the shooting of a Savannah man on Skidaway Road Tuesday evening.
Gerald Williams, 30, was transported to Memorial University Medical Center with critical injuries after the 6:24 p.m. shooting neat East 51st Street. The shooting followed an altercation with another man. Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Crimestoppers at (912) 234-2020 or text CRIMES (274637).
• One man was arrested and a second is being sought after a SWAT Team raided a Live Oak barber shop and nearby house.
Marlon Mozat Brown, 39, was arrested in the Celebrities Barber Shop in the 2000 block of Ash Street. Brown initially was charged with three illegal substances sales. Detectives continue to investigate after finding marijuana in the barber shop and various illegal substances, drug manufacturing equipment, a stolen weapon and a stolen computer in his residence on West 35th Street.
He has an extensive history of drug offenses and probation violations with SCMPD dating back to 1991 and has been convicted of felonies on five separate occasions.
Detectives also are asking the public's help in locating Shawn Anthony March, also 39, on two additional sales offenses. He has an extensive record of drugs, contempt of court and probation violations along with battery and obstruction charges. He was convicted on multiple charges and sentenced to multiple 10-year prison terms in 2008 but served only from August 2009 until January 2011. He is a black male, about 5-7 and weighing about 200 pounds. The operation was the continuation of an investigation that began Jan. 9, 2012, after Larry Jiles was gunned down in front of the barber shop at East 36th and Ash streets. He was standing beside a Pontiac Aztec he had driven to the shop when he was shot multiple times.
Central officers conducted surveillance and undercover operations on the shop, observing the purchase of drugs from it and a nearby house on East 35th Street. That house also was searched for drugs and weapons in the operation.
