Acoustic Open Mic w/Ronnda Cadle & Friends

It’s been ages since this coffeehouse and live music venue actually hosted a music-oriented Open Mic, but they’re kicking off a new monthly series with a hoot hosted by guitarist Cadle (who plays with acclaimed Nashville songstress Moe Loughran), and featuring Trina Meade and Tomi Martin, (2/3 of Atlanta trio Three5Human). They tour often with the Indigo Girls, and their collective credits include songwriting with Madonna and TLC and singing with Toni Braxton. Local talent can also sign up to perform as well. Sun., 7:30 pm, The Sentient Bean.

Trae Gurley w/The Peter Tavalin Trio

The Jon Dunn Project

Northeastern-bred acoustic guitarist who gained some measure of notoriety in this area a few years back for shoehorning his quirky and percussive tunes into an ersatz jam-band format (with oddly dour vocals). Now back on the scene after an extended absence. Fri., 6 pm, Felipé’s Mexican Restaurant.

Eat Mo' Music

Funky instrumental dance grooves and soul jazz from a local quintet of trumpet, bass, drums, guitar and trombone. Fri. - Sat., 9:30 pm, Il Pasticcio.

The 8-Tracks

Eclectic, retro cover band featuring members of Superhorse, GAM, The Judge & The Jury, and Hot Pink Interior. Their oddball setlist ranges from the Pixies to Elvis to Lucinda Williams. Sat., 10 pm, Mercury Lounge.

Andrew Gill

Solo acoustic set from this budding guitarist and vocalist, best known as the frontman for local roots-rockers WormsLoew. Sat., 6 pm, The Warehouse.

Grayson Manor

Atlanta-based cock-rock revivalists whose unabashedly embrace the over-the-top excess of ‘80s hair metal, but have the chops to pull it off. Sat., 10 pm, The Jinx.

High Velocity

Traditional and contemporary Celtic tunes sung and played on acoustic guitar by one of the city’s finest balladeers (who also hosts the popular syndicated Public Radio show The Green Island). Wed. - Sun., Kevin Barry’s.

The Permanent Tourists

Excellent cover act known for a top-notch rhythm section and a massive setlist of rock, soul, pop and R & B nuggets from Kool & The Gang and Barry White to The Rolling Stones. Fri. - Sat., 9:30 pm, Scandals (Tybee).

The Denny Phillips Band

Well-known party band playing upbeat covers by everyone from Sinatra to Buffett to the Eagles. Fri. - Sat., 9 pm, The Oyster Bar (Wilmington Island).
