The cross-pollination of American traditional musical styles and the music of Mali in the past half century has created incredible music that is both ancient and modern. One of Mali's most renowned musicians is kora master Ballaké Sissoko, who returns with cellist Vincent Ségal to SMF after their widely heralded performance at SMF 2011. Acclaimed multi-instrumentalists from Louisiana, Cedric Watson and Dirk Powell, lead a band that explores the West African influences of Creole and Cajun music.
