Web Exclusive: Geekend announces 2010 lineup

The sophomore effort for the tech and design conference comes into focus with some big talent.

Geekend, the design and technology conference that debuted with resounding success last Fall, has just announced most of its lineup for 2010. Geekend runs November 4 through 6 at the Coastal Georgia Center.

Any concerns that their sophomore attempt might not match their inaugural event seem to have been addressed.

The biggest name amongst the list of speakers and panelists so far is the headliner for the third day of the event, Twitpic founder Noah Everett. Twitpic is a popular web program that allows users to share pictures via Twitter.

"We're stoked," says Jake Hodesh, Geekend Co-founder and incoming Executive Director of the Creative Coast Alliance. "We think he fits the demographic we're going after - young, exciting, innovative, entrepreneurial - and we're excited to showcase him."

The other keynote speaker announced so far is Scott Stratten of UnMarketing, who will kick off the festival Thursday night with a talk about the necessity for online customer engagement by businesses regardless of industry.

The keynote for Friday night has yet to be announced, but should be coming soon, according to Hodesh, and although he won't name any names, there are several interesting possibilities.

Mixed in with a growing list of national business people and entrepreneurs, including representatives from Yahoo! and Grooveshark, is an impressive amount of local and regional talent as well.

"It was our mission and objective last year to showcase the best and brightest in the region, and to juxtapose what we've got with what's going on in the rest of the world," says Hodesh. "What we're happy to say is that we have some pretty amazing folks doing some pretty amazing work in the Southeast region."
