A man considered armed and dangerous and being sought by Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police since a raid on a barbershop July 18 was arrested today in a house serving as a day care center.

Shawn Anthony March, 39, was arrested without incident in a house in the State Street area of east Savannah. Police found as many as 10 children in the house, along with a room in which local gang information was displayed.

He had been sought since Metro Police raided a Live Oak neighborhood barber shop at Ash and 36th streets and nearby house .

Marlon Mozat Brown, 39, was arrested in the Celebrities Barber Shop in the 2000 block of Ash Street in an operation conducted by the Tactical Investigation Unit of the Central Precinct Investigation Office. Brown initially had been charged with three illegal substances sales. Police also found marijuana in the barber shop and various illegal substances, drug manufacturing equipment, a stolen weapon and a stolen computer in his residence on West 35th Street. Both men have extensive histories of drug offenses and probation violations with SCMPD and multiple felony convictions.

The July 18 raid was a continuation of investigations that began Jan. 9, 2012, after Larry Jiles was gunned down in front of the barber shop. He was standing beside a car he had driven to the shop when he was shot multiple times. The car contained several electronic components. Violent Crimes detectives continue to investigate that case.

Activities in the shop and house have been a source of concern for neighborhood residents. Central officers conducted surveillance and undercover operations on the shop, observing the purchase of drugs from it and a nearby house on East 35th Street.
