Truck leaks acid through town

Posted on Sat, Jul 27, 2013 at 3:11 PM

Garden City Fire and Savannah Fire are on the scene at several locations involving a sulfuric acid spill, according to a Chatham Emergency Management Agency (CEMA) spokesman. Known locations are Grange Road, President Street and three locations on Highway 21. The truck has been located.

CEMA advises that "if acid gets on your vehicle, cover contaminated area with sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) and then rinse off with water to neutralize."
