One man is in custody following the seizure of drugs and firearms by the Chatham-Savannah Counter Narcotics Team (CNT).
Early Tuesday morning June 9, CNT agents, along with the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit, executed a search warrant at a residence in the 600 block of Atkinson Avenue.
"There, agents seized cocaine, marijuana and items commonly associated with the distribution of controlled substances," a CNT spokesman says.
:Also seized were three firearms, ammunition and more than $1,400 in U.S. currency. Additionally, agents discovered various electronic components and deemed them to be suspicious."
CNT requested the assistance of the Savannah Chatham Metropolitan Police Department Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) Unit. EOD technicians arrived on scene and confirmed the items could be associated with an incendiary device. They collected evidence and are continuing their investigation.
CNT arrested 27-year-old Matthew “Pye” Brown of Savannah. Brown was charged with multiple felony charges to include (4cts) Sale of a Controlled Substance (cocaine), Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Distribute and (2cts) Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony. Brown is being held at the Chatham County Detention Center and is expected to be arraigned in Recorder’s Court of Chatham County, Georgia later today.
"CNT’s investigation into Brown originally began in April following information he was selling cocaine," the spokesman says. "Undercover agents successfully made numerous purchases of cocaine from the unsuspecting Brown."
