Detectives are investigating the shooting of two men at a residence on the 100 block of Paradise Drive that resulted in the death of one late Friday night.

"At about 11:15 p.m. Metro responded to the scene, finding Damon Card, 22, and Wendell Washington, 22, suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were transported by ambulance to Memorial university Medical Center, where Card succumbed to his injuries," police report.

"Investigators do not believe the shootings were random and seek to identify suspects and motives in this incident. Detectives are now searching for a white late 90s to early 2000s model sedan believed to have fled toward White Bluff Road just after the incident," police say.

Detectives are investigating "after two men were reportedly shot in a vehicle while crossing the Talmadge Bridge just before 5 a.m." Sunday morning, police say.

Reportedly, Cedrico Wallace, 21, and Lorenzo Outland, 29, were heading southbound near the bridge’s Oglethorpe Avenue exit ramp when shots were fired.

"Wallace and Outland continued driving toward Candler Hospital where they were met by Metro officers. Both victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Suspects and circumstances leading up to this shooting remain under investigation," police say.

Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department charged a South Carolina man at approximately noon, Jan. 28, after he was taken into custody and transported to the Chatham County Detention Center by Bryan County Sheriff deputies.

Hardeeville resident Ricky S. Primus, 19, is charged with entering auto in the 8300 block of White Bluff Road in June 2015.

"He was served with a copy of his arrest warrant upon his arrival at the detention center," says Sonny Cohrs of the SCMPD Public Affairs Office.

Monday, Violent Crimes investigators of Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department charged Lawrence Bernard Hughes, Jr., 30, in the June 2015 shooting death of Jamon Epps, 34.

Hughes is charged with felony murder. He was arrested without incident during an appearance at the Chatham County Courthouse.

"On June 26, at about 9:41 p.m. Epps was found deceased in the driveway to Ponderosa Apartments. Epps was located inside of a black 2015 GMC Yukon with a gunshot wound. He was located by officers investigating a nearby shots fired call dispatched moments earlier," police explain.

"Detectives seek to identify and locate two persons of interest in a Jan. 11 shoplifting case involving more than a dozen pairs of jeans totaling several thousand dollars in value," police say.

The theft occurred at Buckle in Oglethorpe Mall. "Investigators believe at least two males with hoodies pulled over their heads entered the store inquiring about a specific type of jeans. Once the jeans were located, the men grabbed several pairs and exited the mall. The men fled in a white 4-door BMW sedan," police say.

Both suspects are described black males in their late teens to early 20s, standing between 5-6 and 5-10 and weighing roughly 150-170 pounds. During the incident one suspect wore a black hoodie with a green under shirt and black jeans. The second suspect wore a green and grey hoodie with light colored jeans.

Detectives are investigating a shooting at Fred Wessels Homes on the 600 block of East Liberty Street, that injured Jamarlin Latson,18, at about 7:41 p.m. Monday.

Metro responded to the scene, finding Latson with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. Latson was transported by ambulance to Memorial University Medical Center for care.

"Latson was reportedly inside of his apartment when he was struck by a bullet fired outside of the unit. A 24-year-old female and a 5-year-old female also were inside of the apartment during the incident," police say.

Investigators are now searching for a gray Pontiac sedan. The Pontiac is believed to have fled heading east on Wheaton Street at a high rate of speed after the shooting. Detectives ask the public’s help in identifying suspects.

One person is in custody following an investigation conducted by the Chatham-Savannah Counter Narcotics Team (CNT).

Early last Friday morning, CNT and the Thunderbolt Police Department arrested 35-year-old Christopher Preiss of Thunderbolt.

"Preiss was arrested at his home located in the 3000 block of Shell Road which is directly across the street from Johnson High School. Preiss was taken into custody without incident and before Johnson High students and staff arrived at school," a CNT spokesperson says.

lled Substance (heroin) and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. He is currently being held at the Chatha m County Detention Center.

"CNT’s investigation into Preiss began in December 2015 following information the convicted felon was said to be in possession of firearms and selling heroin. During the investigation, Preiss sold heroin and firearms to undercover CNT agents throughout Chatham County," CNT says.

"In all, two firearms were purchased from Preiss and one of the firearms was reported stolen in a burglary of a Chatham County home."

This arrest of Preiss marks his 16th booking in the Chatham County. Most of Preiss’ prior arrests are for misdemeanor related charges. Preiss was arrested in 2009 for Possession of a Concealed Firearm and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.

CNT also collaborated with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) during this investigation. CNT’s investigation into Preiss will be considered for federal prosecution by the United States Attorney’s Office.

Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police detectives are investigating a shooting that injured Richard Lafayette at approximately 3 a.m., Jan. 23, on the 1600 block of Bay Street in West Savannah.

Police arrived on scene and found Lafayette, 31, suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He was transported to Memorial University Medical Center for non-life threatening wounds.

"The victim stated he was standing outside his motel room when he was approached by an unknown black male who pushed him inside the hotel room and demanded money. Inside the room, the two men struggled and the suspect took the victim’s concealed handgun and shot him," police say.

"The victim is licensed to carry the weapon. The suspect fled the scene with the victim’s weapon."

Detectives are investigating a shooting in Sustainable Fellwood on Gwen Goodman Drive, that injured Petria Pierce, 47, just before 10:30 p.m. Thursday.

Metro responded to the scene, finding Pierce suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. Pierce was transported by ambulance to Memorial University Medical Center for care.

"Pierce was reportedly standing outside when she heard multiple gunshots, then attempted to run to a safe location. She was reportedly struck while fleeing," police report.

"Investigators do not believe Pierce was targeted. The intended target and identities of the suspects remain under investigation. Detectives are searching for a black male wearing a red hooded sweatshirt seen leaving the scene toward Bay Street," police say.

Several residents of Sustainable Fellwood Apartments reported vehicle or property damage, including broken pipes which caused extensive water damage.

Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department detectives are investigating a "cutting" that occurred at approximately 8:30 p.m., Jan 21, on the 3000 block of Skidaway Road.

"Roosevelt Grant, 60, was in front a business when a Hispanic male reportedly walked up to him and started an argument," police say.

"Grant said the argument escalated into a fight and at some point the suspect pulled out a knife. Grant was transported to Memorial University Medical Center with serious injuries."

SCMPD Officers and K-9 units responded, but were unable to locate the suspect.
