Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department’s Violent Crimes detectives are investigating a shooting that injured two men on the 700 block of East Bolton Street on Wednesday Dec. 30.

"Just after 4 p.m. Metro responded to the scene, finding Charles Chaplin, 66, in a Blue Dodge Caliber, injured and armed with a gun. Jeremy Peters, 26, also was found suffering from a gunshot wound. Chaplin was detained by police, then transported to Memorial University Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. Peters was also transported by ambulance to MUMC with serious injuries," police say.

"The two engaged in a physical altercation before police arrived. Chaplin reportedly shot Peters. After questioning at Metro headquarters, Chaplin was arrested and taken to the Chatham County Detention Center without incident. He is charged with one count of aggravated assault," police say.
