The Savannah Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit is investigating a shooting Tuesday evening that resulted in two deaths and two injuries.

"Around 9:40 p.m. officers responded to the 6900 block of Damascus Street and discovered multiple men suffering from gunshot wounds. Devonte Henneghan, 27, and an unidentified black male died as a result of their injuries. Two others – Michael McDaniel, 28 and Deonte Jones, 27 – were transported to a hospital with injuries," police report.

"Detectives are actively investigating the incident to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting. The incident does not appear to be the result of a random shooting," police say.

The killing bring the total of shootings in Chatham County over that 24 hour period to six, with one other being fatal.
