Homicide on 49th Street

avannah Police Violent Crimes detectives made an arrest in the homicide of a 70-year-old woman on Thursday, July 18.

"At around 9 p.m., officers responded to a residence on the 700 block of E. 49th Street to conduct a welfare check. Upon arrival, they located Nancy Hunt deceased with apparent injuries that were not self-inflicted," police report.

Sean Hunt, 29, who is the victim’s son, was on scene when officers arrived.

"He was brought in for questioning and upon further investigation, it was determined that he was responsible for the homicide. He was charged with murder and transported to the Chatham County Detention Center without incident," police say.

It's the 14th homicide of the year in the jurisdiction of the Savannah Police Department.
