Breakthrough in Aug. 2014 Carver Heights murder

Wednesday, "the collaborative work of a multiagency taskforce led to the arrest of murder suspect, Jo'Andre Robbins,18, for the shooting death of Wayne Edwards, 17" in an August 2014 murder, police say.

Robbins was found at a residence on the 5600 block of Betty Dr.

"The shooting happened Aug. 16 outside of a residence on the 1200 block of Elliott Street, in Carver Heights. Six days later, Robbins was charged with Edwards' murder," police say.

Dec. 23 of last year, Michael Thompson, of Savannah was arrested in Augusta and charged in connection to this case.

Woman charged with felony false reports in wake of Bay Street fracas

Police filed felony charges against a Florida woman "who misrepresented circumstances that led up to a fight that left her companion with injuries on Feb. 2."

Angel Little, 36, of Riverview, FL., will be charged with filing a false police report after she and her companion, Corey Walters, 38, became involved in a fight on Bay Street near Bull Street after 2 a.m.

"She initially told Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police the couple had been attacked, beaten, kicked in the head and face and robbed by five to six males who left in a maroon sports sedan," police say. "But a video obtained after a search warrant was served on a nearby business refutes most of the couples' account."

The video indicates Walters, 38, "instigated the confrontation that required his medical treatment. Walters was shown walking away and returning to confront two men standing on the sidewalk several times."

Three arrested on for drugs and guns

Police arrested three males and confiscated "at least four semiautomatic weapons and drug sales paraphernalia after a traffic stop Wednesday night," police say.

Arrested were Franklin Deangelo Alexander, 30, of 1803 East 62nd Street; Ja'vonte Montrez Hamilton, 22, and Dwayne Leonard Abney, 17.

Police stopped a Chevrolet Tahoe for a traffic offense at West 41st and Bulloch streets about 2:09 p.m.

The officers found "an AK47, a semiautomatic pistol, assorted ammunition, marijuana packaged in bags and scales."

Trail suspect sought

Detectives are searching for a man "reported to have grabbed a teenage girl running on a wood-covered walking trail on Wilmington Island Thursday evening."

"The teen reported that she had separated from her jogging mates after becoming winded about 5 p.m. in the woods on Johnny Mercer Boulevard when her arms were grabbed by a male attempting to pull her away from the trail," police say.

Police are seeking a white male in his 30s or 40s, 6 feet with a muscular build and deep voice.

Metro is investigating a similar encounter on the same trail Feb. 25, when a family reported a man hidden behind trees called to them. "They said they never saw the male but felt he was black based on his voice," police say.

Knockout game suspects sought

Police seek the public's help in locating "two males who appeared to randomly attacked pedestrians in two incidents Sunday."

In the first incident, two Jersey City, NJ, men were walking at East Congress and Habersham streets about 7:13 p.m. when the car (possibly a Cadillac DeVille) stopped beside them; "the passenger exited and punched a 35-year-old victim several times in the face." Witnesses confirmed the report.

At 8 p.m., a 21-year-old woman attending college in Savannah reported "she was walking with a male when the car stopped near them and she was punched and knocked down by the passenger," who is described as a black male, about 6 ft. with a slender to medium body style, short hair and light complexion. cs

with a broad nose. The driver was described only as a tall black male.

Downtown Precinct detectives continue to investigate the attacks and search for the suspects and the vehicle. They would like to talk to the driver and/or occupants of a dark SUV or minivan that stopped to help at the second incident.

Anyone with information on the vehicle or the suspects is asked to call Crimestoppers at (912) 234-2020 or text CRIMES (274637) using the keyword CSTOP2020. Tipsters remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward.
