Cannons and Cribs: Two Recent Revolutionary and Civil War Site Discoveries in the Savannah River

Underwater archaeologists recently recovered 15 cannons from the American Revolution and investigated several Civil War crib-works in the Savannah River. Located opposite Old Fort Jackson, the cannon site is possibly associated with the HMS Venus and/or HMS Savannah. Archaeologists will discuss their findings from the geophysical survey and diver investigations and the roles these sites played in protecting Savannah during their respective wars. The public is invited to learn more about these amazing discoveries during this free presentation. Refreshments 6:30-7:00 pm; Presentation 7:00-8:00 pm. Masks required.
