Ask why 1527 and not 1619?
In 1527 the presence of Indigenous people was established as an initiative of liberty— defined as an assertion of entitled freedom and authority.
Native and African people asserted themselves as a whole of humanity: people, not slaves, grateful freedmen or 2nd class participants. Before Africans were brought to Jamestown—or 13 colony Patriots revolted against the crown 1776—a 1527 coalition of Natives and Africans routed Spanish colonists and were 1st to seize their liberty on this regional landscape.
