Re: “Savannah Car Care Center (Victory Dr)

I identified several problems (a/c not working; passenger electric window not working) & asked for an estimate of repairs. The Manager said he could do it tomorrow morning. Never did he say there would be a charge to give me an estimate. I dropped the car off before hours, left the key. The Manager called me 2+ hours later, said the a/c compressor needed replacement + gas, so about $980. Oil change too. He said the driver's side window switch needed replacement but never gave me a price - never wrote anything on the estimate/bill form either. I said I needed to think about it as a thousand dollars is a lot to spend at one time, plus it's an old car (2003). He said just pay me the diagnostic fee of $49.95 & we'll be OK. I asked "what fee"? He said "we charge to give estimates". I said "you never told me that - if I had known that I would not have left the car". He said we always charge for the diagnostic, & the total is $55.30. I told him I'm coming over to get my car. When I arrived at the shop, there was a sign with a bunch of rules on it, with the last one at the bottom - very inconspicuously - stating "minimum diagnostic fee $49.95". Again, he never told me this, never pointed to the sign & said that was our fee, I never verbally authorized the fee, & I never signed anything authorizing the fee. In addition, he automatically added a "shop supply fee" of $5.00 plus tax of $0.35 to the diagnostic fee, thus the "Minimum diagnostic fee" is NOT $49.95 but $55.30! He disparaged me several times as I'm living in California & we're terrible people. He threatened to place a lien on my car. I then said that since this fee - per their terms - could be applied again the services recommended, that I would get the oil changed. He said that that was not possible now since I had argued with him about the charge. I paid the bill & left.

Re: “Le Chat Noir Studio Gallery and Gardens

This garden on West Hall St. is welcoming - it invites you to slow down and take in the classical lines of the seemingly French Creole home graced wih a faded pink stucco patina. Woody took pride and put constant labor into his charming garden.

Gripped lovingly by vines and hearty vegitation the home peeks through as though veiled in a mocking & gamely fashion " see me if you can " it beckons.

The home is from a Mr. Gilbert long before Mr. Ray Ellis .
I have often wondered and I asked Woody - is it the English name or perhaps a French name with the silent "T" like Guilbert ?
With a nod towards nearby Barnard St. named for a local French Engineer it seems reasonable to consider the French, we agreed.

My wife Maureen was discussing with Woody whether to plant vegtables or pretty blooming plants at our home, near his, on Hall St.
His quick reply was to go for the beauty and buy the produce.

I submit that he preferred his life as such -
He certainly lived that way -
Woody found and shared beauty in his art.
RIP

Re: “Savannah Cultural Arts Center

I was completely underwhelmed. For a facility that is more than ONE-HUNDRED TIMES the value of my home, I would have expected a bit more. I would not have defined the gallery as "large". Oversized, maybe. About double the size of my home's master bedroom. But not large.

One of the theatres was set up with folding chairs in a room that about the size of the gallery. The other theatre room looks like it would accommodate less than 200. That was the one with the retracting seats. However, I have no quibble with the fact that they retract and are not permanently affixed. In fact, IMO that is an asset.

All in all though, IMO, the Savannah council needs to account for the facility. It doesn't speak well of them.

Re: “JW Salon & Spa

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!! Save your money and your hair! Went in to see Madeline for partial highlights and a cut only to have my friends tell me it looked streaky and unblended. I had asked for a quote before going in and even double checked at the front desk before getting my hair done and ended up paying well over the amount that was originally quoted to me. When asked about the extra charges that I did not ask for they said that olaplex treatment is automatically charged for colored hair for $20, but lied and charged me $25 for not only the olaplex treatment but ALSO added another hair service which was never mentioned or asked for, for an additional $25. This added an extra $50 plus dollars for extra services that I was not even informed or asked for. I found the business and staff to be very dishonest seeming like they were more interested in taking advantage of their customers to make quick money.

Re: “La Petite Abeilles

On Thursday, December 27, 2018, our family group enjoyed lunch at La Petite Abeillles in Savannah. Most of the tables were full when we arrived so we were happy we had reservations for five people. The atmosphere was very welcoming. The Chef and staff were excellent. We enjoyed eating on the front porch of this beautiful home. Front porches are great memories of people getting together to eat and enjoy each other's company.

Our group ordered different items from the menu so we were able to to see and discuss each dish. Everything was very good. I must say that mine was delicious. We also had two pots of different teas so we could sample each. We are already talking about another adventure there so we can try other items on the menu.

Our family gives this location an excellent rating for both food and atmosphere.

Re: “Hawg Scooters

If you like giving away $1423.40, then buy something from here. We bought our daughter a 4 wheeler for her birthday, because we want her to have the things we always wanted and didnt have growing up. The day we got it, we came home rode it for 20 minutes and it wouldnt crank again. We took it back to them because there was a 60 day warranty. They kept it for a week trying to repair it. Every time we got it back it would run for 10 minutes and the same thing would happen. They tried to repair it 4 or 5 times in the 60 days we had it. My daughter didnt get to ride it on her birthday, on Christmas, on New Years. We felt horrible that every time we would ask if she wanted to ride her four wheeler her face would light up, she would get her boots and helmet on, we would walk outside and it wouldnt start. Seeing her face broke our hearts. So we took the four wheeler back to them, and being told the last time by them to Give me one more chance to get it right. It wasnt right. Never ran right. They had multiple chances and we just had a bad taste in our mouths. When we dropped it off for the last time the owner wasnt there and wouldnt be back until after the New Year. We went out and spent $3000 on another four wheeler from someone else. Once the owner finally got in touch with us after 2 weeks his offer was to give us $1175. When we said No. How about $1400? He said he couldnt do that. We were willing to lose $23.40. Why did he offer any refund if he felt like what he did wasnt wrong?? The owner said he would sell it on consignment and we would get all our money back. We said No. We werent putting our name on a broken four wheeler that someone else would be screwed over with. We arent those people. So now, we have given them $1423.40, on top our all our time going back and fourth from their shop, the lost wages of work we had to miss, the gas, and our faith in business owners do the right thing. SHOP HERE AT YOUR OWN RISK OR IF YOU LIKE GIVING HARD EARNED MONEY AWAY!!!!

Re: “Brewer's Sports Bar and Grill

Terrible ownership. The owners will yell at you and argue with you in front of customers. The guy owner gets drunk there almost every time hes there. They have underage drinkers. Underage bartenders. Food is reheated. They dont do inventory right. They cant keep staff brcause of how they treat them. And they let underage people throw tables at regular of age customers. My friend has internal bleeding from getting hit with a table. The owner was helping the underage girl instead of the girl that was injured. When cops came he flipped out inside the bar and was going off in front of all his customers. Cops even heard him. Thankfully he cops did their job and arrested the girl.
