Re: “Panhandle Slim designs T-shirt for Bahamas relief

How come there is no photo or illustration accompanying this story? It would help to know what the T-shirt looks like.

Re: “Savannah City Council passes gun control resolution

Savannah, The City that has gone to crap, because of the Elected idiots who don't have a clue what it is they are suppose to be doing.

They like the rest of the Democratic Party wants to disarm us, so when we are Robbed in Savannah, or even killed in Savannah, we will not be able to defend our Self's.

I have a Solution for that, I will not Visit Savannah or Spend any of my Money in Savannah.

Boycott Savannah, the life you save may be your own.

Re: “‘Rock bottom is death’: One woman’s fight against the opioid epidemic

SMH.....
Typical Yankee liberal with total unaccountability..
Always blame everyone but the person who is responsible.
Not a stretch to guess where her son got that !

"I blame Perdue [Pharma]; they are obviously at fault for putting these pills out there." HUH??

That's like blaming utensils for obesity lady.
Let me guess, now you're trying to cause tons more deaths by taking away people who genuinely can't live without their pain management meds......

SMH ! !

Re: “Editor's Note: Savannah enters the gun control debate

@ Tony--agreed. Savannah's streets are a danger zone, night or day and nobody does a thing about it. I go armed any time I need to use the sidewalks here. I don't know how these tourists manage to stroll about and not get mugged.

Re: “Editor's Note: Dorian’s Dilemma, Or How Not To Do A Hurricane Evacuation

Doesnt the state get money from Washington IF it declares State of Emergency? My recollection is that it does... question of the day is where will the money go?

Re: “Editor's Note: Dorian’s Dilemma, Or How Not To Do A Hurricane Evacuation

Another little niggling thought to add to the economic side of things. During the
fall season, special motor coach groups come into Savannah for programs geared to their interests. Those booking these groups are shying away from Savannah
during its "hurricane season" and this is another economic downside for tourism that comes with the over-hyping of the storm's potential .

Re: “Editor's Note: Dorian’s Dilemma, Or How Not To Do A Hurricane Evacuation

Perhaps we should start teaching people how to prepare for and survive through a hurricane and its aftermath.

Re: “Editor's Note: Dorian’s Dilemma, Or How Not To Do A Hurricane Evacuation

I would suggest, as one who knows me might expect, to add those who live outside in your criteria as well.

Another large piece of this is the cost of evacuating. Many of our residents simply do not have the people or financial resources to evacuate. This added expense fell harshly on top of those who also lost a week's worth of wages. By the way, I saw an estimate closer to hundreds of millions in lost revenue for city businesses.

We need informed, courageous, and measured leadership in the time of crisis. Instead we got knee jerk reactions and political grandstanding. To quote said leaders, #sad.

Re: “Editor's Note: Arena project’s trickle-down cost

When your expenses exceed revenue then it's time to consider what you spend. Cutting Govt jobs would be a good start. Best that by controlling expenses of Government would include reconsidering expansion projects. That would be prudent.

Re: “Editor's Note: Arena project’s trickle-down cost

And don't forget the cost of all the kayaks for when we're all kayaking on the canal! They did mention kayaking in the over-all glowing discussion of what
the Arena experience will be like for all of us.

Re: “Editor's Note: Arena project’s trickle-down cost

I don't think parking will be an issue. Nobody in his/her right mind would go to that area--especially at night. No big acts will play there due to the limited seating area. And if parking gets tight, people can always row their little boats out there-- or so the politicians claim. They know it is a black hole and a boondoggle, but the developers have promised them kickbacks.

Re: “Why it’s OK to vote against SPLOST

Only the most empty-headed fool would go out and vote extra taxes on him/herself. Let them use property taxes, which is what they are intended for. And there have been several skim-offs of SPLOST money in the past. Look who you are giving control of this money to!

Excellent article and so nice to feel like we're reading real investigative journalism in a Savannah paper again instead of advernews. Rare thing in print or online these days who'd think? Keep it up!

Re: “Editor's Note: Savannah enters the gun control debate

I am from Savannah Ga, I would not visit or attempt to walk the streets of Savannah with out a fire arm to protect my self and my family.

It is not the law abiding gun owners killing people.

The key,,,,,,

- Make every one applying to buy a fire arms Take a safety course.

- Make any one buying a Fire arm under go a Mental health evaluation.

- Enforce the Gun laws we already have.

- Put God back in the Schools, and Homes.
