Try an "ED SHEERAN" at The Little Crown Pub

COCKTAIL OF THE WEEK

Ed Sheeran

Enjoy at The Little Crown by Pie Society

House-made Gingerbread Man Mix, Elijah Craig Bourbon, Fresh Lemon Juice, Egg Whites

It’s going to be two ounces of Elijah Craig. All on its own, it’s really smooth bourbon. When you use it in a drink, it will pop through a little better. It’s light. Then we have our house made and wonderful, Gingerbread Syrup. It has all of the flavors of fresh ginger, vanilla, clove, cinnamon, all the goods. A little bit of lemon juice to even everything out. A good, traditional sour has egg white in it. We have a vegan friendly option using something non-animal. For a good sour, it needs to have some volume so we’re going to ice it. Silky and smooth.

The drink is named after a British pop singer, who is a redhead. He has a record label called Gingerbread Man Records. The name is an obvious and light-hearted approach towards his hair and complexion. Just like its namesake, it isn’t much to look at but it sure can sing. We try and keep a lighthearted approach in naming the drinks. This one works on all levels.

Meet the Bartender:

Joshua Fethke

The Little Crown is Georgia’s Smallest Pub. We have a very intimate atmosphere. People aren’t interested in coming here to party necessarily. They come here to interact with the bartenders. They also love to meet new people. I’ve seen people come in here and then all leave together who were complete strangers. It’s really cool in that sense.

We also like to ‘wow’ people. People come in here and don’t know what to expect. They’ll try our food and cocktails and they’re ‘wowed.’ I like watching people’s jaws drop. That’s the best part.

Off of our current menu, I’m all about The Trade Route. According to the other bartenders in town who know me, I’m Tiki Josh. So, tiki cocktails are my thing. I like to call them Polynesian-style cocktails. This one really works because it’s got Bold Navy rum, it’s got two types of Caribbean rum, lime juice, a little kiss of coconut. All of those things were a part of the naval culture.

Fun Fact: Melissa’s father, one of the owners of Pie Society, was a naval veteran for the Royal Navy (in Great Britain). A ship called the ‘Ark Royal’ which is also the name of our food truck, Ark Royal.

What got me into bartending? You know, fame, fortune, the admiration of women. None of those things really happened, but I make some money and really good friends. Here I am almost 20 years later doing it but at my own pace.

My favorite spirit? I’m a rum guy through and through, but when the weather hits like this, bourbon is the way to go. So, that Ed Sheeran cocktail is a good choice.
