WSAV recently announced the fourth annual Blitz Border Bowl benefiting Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Coastal Empire. 

The Blitz Border Bowl is a high school football all-star game pitting the best seniors from the South Carolina Lowcountry against the best seniors from Georgia’s Coastal Empire. Blitz Border Bowl IV will be played January 15, 2022 at noon at Memorial Stadium 101 John J. Scott Drive.

David Hart, Vice President and General Manager of WSAV said, “We’re proud to have organized the Blitz Border Bowl again. This is Savannah’s Bowl Game. Georgia won the first year, South Carolina--the second, Georgia--the third. This game has a history of great individual performances and both teams are loaded with talent again this year. There is no question Blitz Border Bowl IV will deliver a great football game.”

WSAV Sports Director Andrew Goldstein said, “We have first-rate coaches, great football teams, a terrific venue, and a worthy cause to support.” The Georgia Coastal Empire will be led by New Hampstead High School Head Coach Kyle Hockman. The South Carolina Lowcountry will be led by Beaufort High School Head Coach Bryce Lybrand. Both coaches are coming off highly successful seasons. 

This will be the third time the Blitz Border Bowl has been played in Savannah's Memorial Stadium. Steve Proper, Director for Chatham County Parks & Recreation Department commented, “We are pleased to host this game at Memorial Stadium. The game provides great benefits to the players, community and most importantly the children and their families who receive services from the Ronald McDonald House.”
