“When I was born, my great grandmother Ida crocheted a blanket for me. When she died, she was buried with a pillow I made for her…I pick up the stitch where my great grandmother left off.” Sulfur Studios’ dedicated P.R. Director, Samantha Mack, shows her MFA thesis exhibit, “Through A Kaleidoscope,” at Sulfur Studios, 2301 Bull Street, May 12-28. Catch her artist talk this Saturday, May 21 at 2 pm (in-person and simulcast via IG Live @sulfurstudios). Mack holds a BFA in Art from Carnegie Mellon University and will earn her MFA in Painting from SCAD this month. Her work hybridizes the generational tradition of crochet with painting, light, and film to investigate such concepts as time, cycles, and memories.
