Thieves "Slip Away" with Greg Allman's stash

According to online news reports, legendary Rock & Roll Hall of Fame member -and Richmond Hill resident- Gregg Allman (of the Allman Brothers Band) recently suffered a break-in at his home while he was away.

The supposed thieves, identified by the Bryan County Sheriff's Department as 27-year-old Craig Matthew George and 19-year-old Brittney Ann Sahlberg, allegedly made off with a case which housed the singing keyboardist's collection of 19th-century silver dollars, plus two safes said to have been filled with gold coins, personal papers, and collectible knives.

Perhaps most intriguing to fans of the celebrated rock, soul, blues and jam musician, several tapes of previously unreleased recordings were stolen as well.

According to investigators, all of the musician's belongings have been recovered, save for a handgun.

Both suspects (who reportedly were acquainted on some level with Allman) have been released on bond, although authorities were unaware if either suspect had retained an attorney.

No word yet on whether or not the burglars found more than "one way out" of Allman's home, or whether the star will insist that George and Sahlberg be "tied to the whippin' post" if found guilty.
