THURSDAY is bound to be a strange, eclectic time down at The Jinx.
Orlando’s The Woolly Bushmen throw it back with ‘50s doo-wop sensibilities, ‘60s garage toughness, and punchy organ. It’s an electrifyingly vintage treat in the vein of The King Khan & BBQ Show and scuzzier Burger Records fare. There’s a little rockabilly in there, too, and wailing vocals punk it up and pierce through the fuzz.
Michael Martin & The Beautiful Mess arrive from Charleston armed with roughed-up, classic Americana. With odes to Johnny Cash and June Carter’s love and Celtic folk influences, Savannah’s sure to eat their guitar-viola-banjo-harmonica-drum-and-bass combo right up.
Savannah’s own Wave Slaves play classic surf rock that’ll have the crowd on the floor, wiggling to the riffage. The whole bill is an unusual combination of genres, but with high energy and sharp skills, it’ll all come together beautifully.
