Hometown hero Sage brings a new single to Savannah.

For the last year, SAGE has been on the move, working in Atlanta, Jacksonville, and in Savannah to prepare for her release. The 26-year-old Capricorn has been singing since she was small, but as she’s delved further into the music business, SAGE has become a talented songwriter, producer, and executive of her own label, creHEARTive Music.

She launched her career in 2011, performing as Shonta’ Renee and releasing a single “Mocha Man,” and an EP. After some life changes, she reemerged as SAGE.

“I was going through a transition spiritually,” she shares. “I was growing and finding out what I want.”

SAGE’s new single, “Mirror Mirror,” reflects that growth. The smooth song is a vulnerable look at self-doubt and inner struggles.

“I wrote it three years ago right when I was coming off of tour and going through redevelopment,” she explains.

Though the Savannah native could have easily thrown a release party in a larger city, it was important for her to share “Mirror, Mirror” in her hometown.

“I could have done it in Atlanta or Jacksonville, but I want the message heard here,” she says. “I want Savannah to hear that you create your reality if you focus and manifest self-love.”

Her fellow performers also celebrate their roots. Neo-soul/hip-hop artist Mali Music was raised in Savannah and was his church’s minister of music when he was just 12 years old. Now, the 30-year-old is releasing music through RCA records.

Rising rapper Clay James grew up in Savannah and now calls Atlanta home and Snoop Dogg a mentor.

Clay Hodges is dedicated to his community, giving back with positive messages and inspirational jams on his WRUU show.

Mid-Day Diva Lady Mahogany of 94.1 The Beat acts as host for the evening, while House Party Boyz will provide additional music to keep the night flowing.

At the Stage on Bay show, SAGE will be accompanied by five background vocalists and five talented musicians who recently acted as rapper Ginuwine’s backing band. With smoke, lights, and fellow Savannahians onstage, it will be an unforgettable celebration.

“It’s going to be good to be back home,” SAGE attests.
