Considering the economy in the developed world has stalled and is almost exclusively propped up by the biggest expansion of debt the world has ever seen (due to the lack of cheap energy inputs...we have burned through all of the shallow pools of oil during the last 150 years) the other huge issue represented by this development is the loss of jobs due to automation. Already 95 million people of working age in America have removed themselves (or been removed) from the working economy. We have the lowest rate (on a percentage basis) of worker participation in the economy since the Great Depression. We also have more adults in the US receiving government aid than in any other time in our history. And considering that contributing meaningful work to your community is one of the basic needs of human beings this particular area of automating the economy is especially disturbing considering how many jobs it will displace. Considering the ecological damage the car (and it's supporting industries and technologies) has already wreaked upon our increasingly dystopian world a sane culture wouldn't be looking at automating cars. It would be looking at getting rid of them altogether.

"With a crime rate of 43 per one thousand residents, Savannah has one of the higher crime rates in America." So why isn't dealing with violent crime and property crime a priority in Savannah. Its not an easy money maker. Thanks you Jim for being a voice of reason and decency in a society bursting at the seams with greed, delusion, ignorance and cowardice.
