Doesnt the state get money from Washington IF it declares State of Emergency? My recollection is that it does... question of the day is where will the money go?

Some of us realized the Fire Fee should have happened but media did not help in shutting it down. It could have been better presented but its merits would have surpassed the presentation part. In a city with so many people pushing for affordable housing, who will be able to purchase houses if taxes keep on escalating? There is no doubt we have a recession coming - I pray it won't be as severe as the last one. It will affect the hotel industry and tourism. It will leave plenty of empty rooms behind. It will be hard on the many restaurateurs and the new digs popping up downtown and in the Starland area... people should act now if they hold a mortgage they can't afford and get out while they can. Rents will stay stable or increase but tenants may lose jobs. It won't be a pretty picture for sure. @Bill Durrence basically is repeating comments I wrote about these last ten days about the troubles the upcoming city council will face. But in the end, Savannah will get out of the hole again. It is a beautiful city. We love it - even if, for some, it is only to complain about it! Lets just vote in people with vision who have meaningful solutions to issues and not deep pockets!

We need more people like Chuck Feagain there and it is a sad story that he is out! I would apply for that board if I could but Im certain that my integrity and transparency would strongly be against me being even considered!

Voting NO would be a terrible and costly mistake... I understand my friends who think their neighborhoods did not get their share. What needs done is better structuring and managing of the funds - getting projects done on time and city council and commissioners getting their act together as to what really needs done minus any dirty politics! Lots of SPLOST money comes from tourism and residents with means who spend big money if we dont have that money coming in for needed projects, then the taxes will have to kick in and this will end up costing more to those who cant afford it. Everyone should vote YES because it is the best thing to do for ALL!

The parade itself should run on Abercorn from Georgetown to DeRenne... no square to trash... plenty of parking with all of the parking lots... skip the Historic Victorian and Landmark Districts - we have done our share for too many years already with the limitations imposed on the residents.

Educate the revelers ahead of time... if they can't learn to party and still have some respect for their environment and their entourage - let them know the partying will be sanctioned the following year.

Keep River Street area open as is for the revelers after the parade... the parade should not be for drinking - it should be a family event!!!

It is time for our City Leaders to make this a much needed learning experience for residents and tourists alike!

more money under the table... integrity is lacking at City Council too many going for the tints of grey instead of black and white... hopefully, with the upcoming city election next year, voters will vote people of integrity and fairness in!
