Totally on point, as usual, Jim. The idea that Van Johnson, or any city's leaders, want to take ownership of the parade is laughable. When the Parade Committee, who has put on this parade for the last 45+ years that I know of, invites Van to run it or offers to let him help, then he can help, but he still won't "own" it. I am wondering exactly how much Irish blood Van has? I am betting Zero.

Gawd! Why does a balcony need carpet? Boggles the mind on wastefulness. Glad I don't pay taxes except on goods.

Other than the much awaited, traditional Nutcracker Ballet in December of last year, my only trips to downtown have been extremely quick: bills, Atty & 1 homeless client, in broad daylight & with free parking. In my opinion (vet with PTSD trying to see if new therapy helps), that's the way that feels safest to me. I will venture twice a month to the Farmers Market on Saturday morning as that vibe sez 'safety in numbers', 'vendors I like' & 1 Metro cop who is dependable and cool under fire. I know because I have tried him & I'm a tough customer when I feel the need to test people.
