Africa and its Gullah-Geechee Connections

This exhibit showcases the personal collection of Willis Hakim Jones, a local historian, and collector of Gullah Geechee artifacts and memorabilia, and features work by Gullah Geechee artists Jerydine Bennet Taylor and Aleathia Chisolm. The Beach Institute is proud to celebrate the cultural and historical nexus between Africa and Gullah Geechee culture through this impressive collection of cultural artifacts, photographs, books, art, and memorabilia.
