Portman’s has been a local legend since 1936, not only providing instruments for working musicians but a very healthy presence in the school band rental business. Starting out on Broughton Street, they moved to their present expansive Southside location in 1993. Business must be good – they’ve opened stores in Brunswick, Albany, and Augusta.
