Great story! I wish I had known about the possibility of Revolutionary War encampments in Thomas Square Park when I was in my early teens. If I had, I probably would have dug up the whole park looking for artifacts! My parents and my 2 older brothers lived at 1913 and 1915 Bull Street which is directly across from the park and in 1961 I graduted from the old Richard Arnold Junior High School which I think is now SCAD. I was very surprised when I visited the old neighborhood a few years back and instead of seeing my old sand playground and basketball courts, I saw a beautiful park. By the way, who is Thomas? Personally, I think the park should have been named Rooks Square Park because there is no one who has spent more time and has so many fond memories of doing so many different fun things in the park and the old elevated library lawn than me!
