This new plan is more inspired by late 2000's profit-driven new urbanism than Oglethorpe. Many residents of the islands traveling by car will end up terminating their trips to downtown here due to all the parking, siphoning business away from Broughton Street. The western half of the project as shown pays more respect to the 1970's urban planning failures of River Street while the eastern half makes arbitrary and needless revisions to the original Sottile plan. This scheme lacks the credibility and restraint of the original design.
